PhD Position in Biomedical Image Analysis

The Centre for Biomedical Image Analysis (CBIA) at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, invites applications for a PhD position. The core of our work lies at the intersection of computer science, life sciences and medicine. We develop and validate novel methods for a broad range of biomedical imaging applications, with emphasis on oncology-related topics, in particular, cancer cell analysis using optical microscopy and tumour analysis using magnetic resonance imaging. Special attention is paid to time-lapse / longitudinal studies.

A key factor in the group’s continued success is close collaboration between people of different backgrounds, including biological and clinical partners, throughout the entire process of experiment design, data acquisition, and image analysis.

As a member of our team, you will contribute to the development of methods for image segmentation, object detection and tracking, object classification, image filtering, image restoration, image registration, image acquisition, or simulation / synthetic image generation.

Key Research Areas

We encourage candidates to bring their own perspective while collaborating with experts from biological and clinical backgrounds. We are particularly seeking involvement in the following topics:
